My musings on video games and how they and the industry just had more magic back in the day
This is where I will discuss the good ole days of gaming, and how I so miss them.
So if you got into gaming during the time of digital releases being the most common way to buy and download console games, you've probably never been to a midnight release. You've never waited outside in the cold 30 minutes to an hour before midnight to pick up a game you preordered weeks ago along with a ton of other people. You've never seen the hype rising as the time gets closer, the people at the front of the line walking back with game in hand and people cheering. It's just plain magical, something more than just clicking download and going to bed to play in the morning.
You might be asking "Why on earth would you wanna do that?", well if you ask young Guysaboss who waited at the midnight release of Halo Reach in 2010 in mid 50's weather, he'd tell you "Because it's awesome, I got to be one of the first people to play Halo Reach in my town at the very least, I stayed up all night playing, I talked with the employees who were excited, the people in line who were excited, they were just hyped making noise for the game. I got the collectors edition with the big ass box, the statue, and it was worth it!"
